A Flood Warning means that flooding is already occurring or will occur during the warning period.




The Meteorological Service has EXTENDED the   


  • Flash Flood WARNING for Dominica at 6:00pm




  • Until 12pm Wednesday November 11th, 2020




  • Unstable conditions due to a trough system continues to affect Dominica. Satellite and Radar imagery indicated that light to moderate showers and isolated areas of heavy shower and thunderstorm activity have been affecting mainly the northern, eastern and interior sections of Dominica during today. The forecast is for this activity to continue to affect the island over the next 24 to 48 hours. Flash flooding is therefore expected. This Flood Warning may be extended should conditions warrant.




  • Flash flooding and landslides have been reported mainly across the northern, eastern and interior sections of the island during the past 24 hours.




  • Rainfall amounts of over 12 inches (300mm) was recorded in interior areas of the island over the past 24 hours.




People in areas that are prone to flooding, landslide and falling rocks should be extremely vigilant and take all precautionary measures to protect life and property.  






·         Shallow rivers, streams, gutters and ravines may temporarily overflow their banks and flood surrounding areas


·         Landslides due to intense rainfall as well as rock falls from overhanging cliffs


·         Gusty winds may result in rough sea conditions, especially on the east coast.


·         Some delays on traffic routes.




The public is advised to be vigilant and to exercise extreme caution during the week and to keep updated on weather information from the Dominica Meteorological Service.
