2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season Summary

In general, the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season was below average. Eight (8) named storms formed in the Atlantic basin with six (6) developing into hurricanes - two (2) intensifying into Major hurricanes. Additionally, there was also one (1) unnamed depression.

Climatologically, there are 12 named storms, 6 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes.

As it relates to Dominica, the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season was relatively quiet and did not produce any severe weather activity across the island.

The island was placed under a Tropical Storm Warning on August 1, 2014 due to the passage of Tropical Storm Bertha approximately 40 miles south of Dominica. However, there were no significant impacts and the warning was lifted later that night.
