World Meteorological Day 2011 Poster Competition

March 23rd is designated as World Meteorological Day by the World Meteorological Organization and is observed by Met Services across the globe annually. This year the World Meteorological Organization celebrated 61 years of existence under the theme "Climate for you".

Dominica Meteorological Service commemorated the day by organizing a poster competition for Primary Schools around the island. Pupils were to use their creativity to portray what weather and climate meant to them. Twenty one entries were submitted. These posters were also showcased at an exhibition which was held on the ground floor of the Government Headquarters on March 23rd 2011.

The results were as follows:

1st Prize Poster 1st place - Nadege Peltier - St. Luke's Primary School
2nd Prize Poster 2nd place - Ramia Dib - Trafalgar Primary School
3rd Prize Poster 3rd place - Donna Liverpool - GrandBay Primary
Special Prize Poster Special prize - Shanti Kronig - St. Lukes Primary School
